AN ENGINEER CORPS.

WANTED BY IMPERIAL GOVERN. | MENT. By Telegraph.—Presa Assdcitiioa. Wellington, Last Night. The Imperial Government !has requested the New Zealand Government to raise an engineer and tunnelling company of three or four hundred men personnel, to be of experienced facemen, and some less skilled assistants. It is proposed to obtain the company from miners of the country and from men experienced in tunnelling work in connection with the 'Public Works Department. Only a limited number of coal-miners can he accepted, as it is of importance that nothing should be done to limit the production of coal. The men would probably be trained for a month in a camp which it is proposed to establish in, or near, Auckland. The age will be from 21 to 40 years. Men are invited to register without delay at the local defence offices, in the usual way.
