RIFLE SHOOTING.

PATEA V. MERE MERE. A team from the Patea Rifle Club journeyed to Mere Mere on \Vecmesaay to fire a friendly match with the Mere Mere Club. After a very interesting match the local Club proved victorious by the narrow margin of two points. Rifleman Boots headed the list for the Patea Club and Rifleman Cochrane filled a similar position for the Mere Mere Club. The visitors were most hospitably entertained by the Mere Mere 9hooters and further visits between tfliese Clubs are looked forward to. The following are the scores:—

ALL WOOL VERSUS SHODDY. For some time past, especially Bince the outbreak of war and consequent high prices of wool, there has been a persistent effort on the part of wholesale houses and certain retail firms to foist shoddy clothing on the public at very much inflated prices. That there is no justification for this beyond a predatory desire to exploit the public is evidenced by the fact that the Melbourne Clothing Company is still selling the following all pure wool colonial clothings at antewar prices. For instance: Men's Kaiapoi suits, 29s 6d; boys' Petone Norfolk suits, Bize 7, 15s 6d, to size 14, 18s 9d; men's Petone tweed suits, 37a 6d; men's jaddle tweed suits, 39a 6d; men's Eoslyn boxed suits, 85a; boys' Roslyn sport suit;, size 6, flu Cd, up to size 16. 22a 6d.
