LETTER FROM CHAPLAIN LUXIXHv. By Telegraph,—Press Assoeiatloi. Wellington, Last Night. Writing from Gaba Tepe, on Julv* 80, to Rev. John Dawson, President of the Methodist Church, Chaplain-Qapt. Luxford says:—"l am still on active service , with the troops, and experiencing til the horrors of war. At the same tine I am sharing the comradeship of good soldiers and'genial men. I have a sympathetica eneral whom I love, and also the officers around me, whose names I will always recall happy memories, Myi i, work among the men I love, and myj health is so good lam amazed! Oun r hardest work is to come. The Dardanelles, or the Narrows, are only fouij miles away, but covering those few mile# will probably cost valuable lives 'by thousands, and take us through scene* no pen can describe. May God In His goodness help us. lam right in the heart of battle, and every day come in contact with slain and wounded. I try to say right words to the latter, and pray with comrades for God's peace to be with those who go through the dull cold agony of bereavement. Writing letters to the friends of those who were slain in April, and in the beginning of May is painful, because so few particulars are available. Now we can keep a correct record of all who are slain with particulars that friends appreciate." Mr. Luxford states that supplies of stationery for the men in the trcucha* would be very much appreciated.
