ALLIES PROGRESSING. GERMAN ENVOY VISITS THE SULTAN. Received Sept. 13, 7 p.m London, Sept. 12. The Daily Telegraph's correspondent at Rome says that it is learned from Constantinople that the Allies are daily progressing as the result of intensified attacks on Anafarta, and that owing to submarines navigation in the Sea of Marmora has completely ceased. The Sultan received the Grand Duke of Mecklenburg, and it is believed that the latter brought several million francs in gold among his baggage. The Turkß have been informed that the Grand Duke's arrival is the precursor to a great Gonnan invasion of Italy. DISQUIET RAMPANT. GERMANS WOUNDED IN 'MUTINY. (Times and Sydney Sun Services.) London, Sept. I'2. Bucharest reports that seven German officers in a German hospital at Constantinople were wounded in a Inutiny by Turkish soldiers. Disquieting conditions prevail in Persia and the Government is apparently powerless to suppress the disorder. The Gendarmerie is unpaid arid disaffected German intrigue is rampant. The attack on the British Consul at Ispahan brought matters to a head and the situation is critical. . ; j AT THE DARDANELLES. COMPARATIVE QUIET. Received Sept. 13, 9.53 p.m. Paris, Sept. 13. A communique says:—At the Dardanelles all is quiet. The Turks frequently bombarded the northern zone, but have not attacked. Our trench mortars wrecked two small forts in the southern zone, inflicting appreciable loss. ■ "TURKISH CAMP BOMBARDED. Mitylene, Sept. 12. A British gunboat yesterday bombarded the camps at Aivali (Asia Minor), and an aeroplane simultaneously dropped bombs and destroyed the barracks. A number of soldiers were killed.
