THE MOA DISTRICT.
A SUGGESTED MERGER. At yesterday's meeting of the Taranakii County Council, the chairman reported on the result of his visit to Wellington with Cr. Morton, as delegates from the council in connection with the Moa County Bill. As they already knew, the Local Bills Committee 'had thrown the Bill out. No bitterness whatever had been shown by the delegates in giving their evidence, in fact, they had been informed that in no other local Bill had less bitterness been shown by delegates. He would suggest, as far as the council was concerned, that a small committee should be set up to wait on the Moa Road Board with a view to seeing if some amicable arrangement could not be come to re merging the whole district. He believed that certain promises had been made, and if nothing came of the interview no harm would be done. There was, ' he concluded, no hope of ever forming the new county, unless they could alter the present opinion of the House.
Mr. J, Andrews considered that this would be a good idea.
The following committee was set up to meet the Moa Road Board: The Chairman, and 'Messrs, Morton and McAllum.
