CONCILIATION COUNCIL.

SITTING AT NEW PLYMOUTH. The Conciliation Commissioner for the Northern and Taranaki Industrial Districts (Mr. T. Harle Giles) arrived at New Plymouth from Auckland yesterday for the purpose of presiding over the hearing of two industrial disputes. To-day, at 11 a.m., the Wellington ■United Furniture Trade (Taranaki branch) dispute will be heard. The assessors for the employers are Messrs. C. E. Baker, W. J. Cousins (Auckland), and J. W. Hayden. < The union assessors are Messrs. D. R. Kennedy, D. Mortality (Wellington), and J. Barlow (Christchurch). The claims are based on the lines of two agreements which have recently been entered into in Wellington and Auckland.

To-morrow, at the same hour, the Conciliation Council will hear the dispute between the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners (Taranaki branch) and the Taranaki employers. The assessors for the employers ore Messrs. A. L. Roberts, P. A. Coleman, and W. P. Brooking, while the union assessors arc Messrs. W. J. Girling, G. Pascoc, and George G. Burgess. At 10.30 a.m., the Commissioner will deal with applications to join parties to the dispute. The claims of the union include increased wages and improved conditions. The employers have filed counter-proposals in relations to a number of the clauses of the union's claims.
