WELLINGTON MATCHES. By Telegraph.—Press Association, Wellington, Sept. 1 In the semi-final for the Rugby senioi championship Petone beat Athletic by 24 to nil. These teams are level, and play off in a fortnight. The Public Schools Rugby tournament beegan to-day, when Petone High School beat Wellington Public Schools team by 19 to 14, and Wanganui Schools team ; beat Manawatu by 9 to nil. OTAGO DEFEATS CANTERBURY. Dunedin, Saturday, The return match betweeji Otago and Canterbury was played to-day in perfect weather, in the presence of about 1500 spectators. A good exhibition was given in the first spell, but both sides tired in the second half. Otago won by 30 points to three. Auckland Last Night. Rugby.—Marist Bros. Old Boys defeated College Rifles by 4 to nil in the playoff for the senior grade competition, and thus become champions for. the 1915 season. League.—Thames representatives defeated Auckland, at Thames, by 25 points to 13. Association.—The final for t'he Falcon Cup resulted in a tie between Brother-, hood and Everton, each team scoring two goals, .
