AUGUST WEATHER REPORT.

TAKEN AT I'UKEK.URA PARK WEATHER STATION. We arc. indebted to Mr. W. W. Smith for the following meteorological report for the month of August. ■ Excepting two days of clhilly southeast wind, blowing on the 12th and 15th, the weather throughout t'he month was fine and seasonable. The winds from all points were fewer and lighter than in any corresponding month for the last seven years. Cloudiness, or the various forma of clouds, were very line on several days during the month. The masses of cirrus high over Mount Egmont on the lObb, and the tine display of these clouds over the sea on the 2Sth, are of rare occurrence. Alto-cuniulua, also high over Mount Egmont on t'he 27th, were the finest of the month. Stratus hung around the mountain mere or less from the 20th to the 2!lth, indicating changing weather. Large masses of cumulus hung around the mountain on th« 13th. The temperature was high and fairly steady, and there were no extremes. The highest dry bulb maximum'temperature (70deg.) was registered on the 21st; the lowest (oGdeg.) on the oth. The highest minimum temperature (58deg.) was also registered on the 21st, and the lowest (37deg.) on the 28th. The maximum wet-bulb gave 58deg. on the 21st and 50deg. on the 6th. The minimum wet-bulb gave 53deg. on the 21st and 3Gdcg. on the 28th. The sunshine recorder recorded lOhr. 4mm. on the 25th and 4min. on the 14th, being the highest and lowest respectively. Total sunshine for the month was I'B7'h.r. Cmin, There were two sunless days. The radiator (sun's heat) registered the highest (140deg.) on the 21st and the lowest (112deg.) on the Bth. The mean terrestrial radiation (throe inches from the grass) was 44 1 / : ,deg. The wind blew from the east on one day, north-east two daysj south-east 12 days, north three days, south-west five days and south five days. There were three calm days. A sleet shower occurred on the loth aJid vivid lightning with thunder occurred on tlhe Bth, 30th and 31st. Half a degree of frost was noted on. the grass .on tlie 18t.li and 10th, Rain fell on 10 days, the highest (1.042 m) on the Bth and the lowest (.004) on the 14t|i. Total rainfall for month, 4,0G31n.
