A CRAVE SITUATION. GENERAL STRIKE IMMINENT. Received August 29, 2.40 p.m. London, August 23. . Mr. Rimcimaii Las consented to meet the South Wales miners' deputation tomorrow. At a mass meeting the western Monmouthshire strikers resolved not to resume work until all the onimnal demands were conceded. There are now 13,000 men out. The Daily Telegraph says that the position in South Wales is grave. Knowing that coal-miners are stubborn, their leaders have sent the deputation to London with the intention of throwing the whole responsibility on Mr. Runciiuan if the worst should hapoen. The leaders realise the seriousness of the crisis, and the imminence of a general strike, and are endeavoring to persuade the miners to continue, at least, until the miners' general conference, which is fixed for Tuesday. Tlie miners take the attitude that if Mr. Lloyd George delivered the goods he promised at Cardiff they would do their part. RAILWAY MEN DISSATISFIED. Received August 29, '2.10 p.m. London, August 28.
