THE GERMAN VICTORIES. GENERAL REJOICIN'GS. Amsterdam, August 22. The Xorth German Gazette states that the Kaiser telegraphed to Herr von Beth-mann-I[ol)wp»: "Thanks to God's assistance and the tried leadership of General von Desselter and his heroic troops, also to the excellent Austro-German siege artillery,* the strongest and most modern Russian fortress of Novo Goorgievsk is in our hands. It is one of the finest feats of arms.'' Herr von Bethmann-Holhveg replied: '•[ am full of gratitude to God. The entire people rejoices at the army's deeds." Thousands sang triumphal songs and ''Now thank we all our God" before Herr von Bethmann-Holhveg's 'palace. The Ijokfll Anxiegor praises the bravery of the defenders of Novo Georgiovsk. and adds: "The Russian sun is setting, and there will soon he a holiday in the east for Germany."
