STRATFORD.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Stratford, Wednesday. Last evening at about a p.m. a motor car collision occurred on the Mountain Road, ju»t past the abattoirs. It appears that Mr. Kaspar, of Eltham, was returning from New Plymouth with a party of ladies, while Mr. R. Mudford was driving a party from Stratford to Midhirst. Mr. Kaspar was passing a, cart coming towards him, and Mr. Mudford attempted to pass him, with the result that the cars collided, and both were badly damaged. This evening quite a number of motorists viewed the scene, and a photographer was present, and took photos of the mishap. A wedding took place this morning at the Methodist Church, Regan Street, when Mr. Alfred Linehan, third son of Mr. A. Liiiehan, of Beaeonsfield Road, was marric4 to Miss Floreiac Cameron, youngest daughter of Mr. W. A. Cameron, of Bell Block. Miss Winnie Richardson acted as bridesmaid, while Mr. W. Liiiehan was best mail, and Mr. W. A. Cameron gave the bride away. The Rev. A. Reader performed the ceremony, after which the wedding breakfast was held at Beaumont's. The happy couple left by the afternoon train for the south. The motor wagon that the County Council formerly used in the county again came up for discussion at to-day's meeting. It appears that the wagon is now in Invercargill, having been sold io a buyer there who, after getting it, refused to take delivery on the ground tli-t. it would not work.

After some discussion, the disposal of the wagon wa3 left in the engineer's hands when he is visiting Southland on liis holidays. At a special meeting of the Borough Council held last evening a motion of sympathy was passed with the relatives of the late Lieut.-Colonel Malone, Privates T. Foley, G. M. Clcary, and Dudley Cameron.
