A NEW MACHINE. TO EXPLODE MINES AND TORPEDOES. (Time* and Sydney Sun Services,) Received August 18, 8.30 p.m. London, August 18. The Rome papers declare that a machine, invented by an Italian engineer named Quarica, will explode a mine from' a distance or a torpedo fired from a sub-' marine, and it haß proved a practical success, DISSENSIONS WITH TURKEY. GOVERNMENT WILL TAKE DECISIVE STEPS. Received August 18, 5.5 p.m. , Rome, August 17. The Giornale d'ltalia learns from Bucharest that the Porte has revoked 'the permission to'various Italians in Asia Minor to repatriate, including seven hundred reservists. The Giornale adds:— "According to other authentic advices, Turkey is continuing to despatch large quantities of munitions and incendiary proclamations to Lybia, with a view to provoking native risings. Our patience has been long suffering, but it is wasted on Turkey's bad faith, and our cup is really full. The Government has reBolved to take decisive steps to bring to an end such intolerable outrages." THE TYROL CAMPAIGN. (DETACHMENTS HAZARDOUS FEAT. Received August 18, 10 p.m. Rome, August 18. A communique states: In the rugged Ortler range, between the valleys of Adda and Adige, one of our detachments , mar'flhed iron) Gapjmpas Milafy) in sections, roped together,'crossed the Camoni .pass of SfliSl metres, and Vedreta di Caitfpo, then scaled the Turkett Spitz, 3460 metres, and surprised a party of the enemy. The detachment next dispersed the enemy on Hikere Madatsch Spitz, and firmly occupied its crest. We occupied Sattelberg, westward of Langealp. Our offensive in the Tolmino zone was dashingly carried out against the hills of Santa Maria and Santa Lucia, covering positions to the right of Tsonzo. The infantry captured with the bayonet a line of solid entrenchments on the western slopes, prieonering 17 officers and 447 men, and taking four machine-guns.
