MEETING OF THE BOARD. The High School Board met last night. Present: Messrs E. Doekrill (chairman), W.X. Ewiug, At. leaser, I). IJuteheii, E. I'. Webster, and A Alciiardv. The Secretary of the Education Department; wrote asking the Board to favor the Department with the author-; ity foi the statement that in addition to the £2OOO to be found by the Government for.the new Girls' High School, the £2OOO proposed to be spent by the hoard on the building is to be refunded when the nioney is available from the Department., The Department was aware of no such intention. The letter added that the Department withdrew its opposition to the loan proposals.— The chairman said that he had spoken to Mr. ukev on this matter, and the answer to the Department wis to ask -Mr. (.'key about the matter, for the promise had beon made in tile i)re«eiue of Air. • A telegram was received from Air. H Okey, AI.P., slating that the Minister of. Education agreed to an Order in Council empowering the Board to borrow a further £3OOO,- and adding that .the Public Trustee would favorably consider the increased loan wiic.ii application fur it was made.—Received.

The Principal of the Bovs' School (Air W. 11. Moves) wrote stating that he had been unable to obtain a master for the. lower preparatory school, A further letter stated that Air. 10, Spenee, a master, was leaving for camp shortly'.— Ihe filling of the two vacancies was left in the hands of the Principal. The Principal of the Girls' School (Miss Hodges) reported that the roll was unchanged since la.it report. The girls had unanimously decided to take certificates instead ot books il the Board would give the prize money to the Patriotic Fund.
