On "Oth July Colonel Charters reported from Alexandria that New Zealand could remain in occupation of the Egvpt:.iii Army Hospital, but that Major Hymn, of the Egyptian Army, should be in charge a.nd he responsible for the hospital equipment, Major liyam to be paid by the New Zealand Government while so employed, on the same scale as he received from the Egyptian A''ii'.y: the New Zealand Govi-:i""eni, to to maintain the hospital en,nipmcn -and to return it in good order at the end of the tenancy, making' good any damage and depreciation. The Government yesterday cabled Colonel Charters to secure the services of Major Byam on the terms mentioned.
