TOWN BOARD. (From Our Own Correspondent). The ordinary monthly meeting of the Town Board was held on. Monday evening. The members present were; Messrs W. C. Dudley, 0. A. Mutlon, D. Boss and C. Sorrensen. It was agreed that the rate for IMSMS should be %d in the £ on rateable value, Mies Stathnm, inspector of military cemeteries, wrote asking if the Board could induce local residents to take more interest in old soldiers' graves. The had written that it would supervise the exuenditure of any money from the fund tor soldiers' graves, and see that full value was obtained far any expenditure. """ '■ ••■ Messrs Stronge and A. O'Brien wrote asking the Board to increase the size of the pipes taking the water of the .creek traversing their sections. The late flood waters had damaged their gardens. The 'Board admitted there was an extraordinary flood, but 'it might not occur again for many years. The foreman was instructed to report. The foreman was also instructed to have the Domain hedges trimmed and weak plants replanted: also to lay down footpaths in the cemetery with waato from the eartbido generator, ■GENERAL. On Monday evening Miss O'Brien's Msemibly dance realised. £l2 10s for toe Wounded Soldiers' Fund. On Saturday night an unusual sight was seen in the streets of Opunafce, six persons having a rough-and-tumble. It wag a family-looking affair —three brothers aside. Probably more will be heard of it. On Wednesday last the marriage of Miss H. Corkill and Mr. fPatcy was solemnised in the Church of England, the Rev. 0. M. Stent officiating. The wedding party adjourned to the residence of 'Mr. ami Mrs. J. H. Corkill'* ("Gftirioch."), where a large number ol visitor* wn entertained. ''*' Another wedding took place on Wednesday in the Church of England, th« contracting parties'being Mr. Parson* ami Miss King, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. King (Ihaia road), dose on 200 visitors were entertained by Mr. and Mrs. King at their residence in bojnr of the occasion, ; ' At the annual meeting of the Dcunakd Presbyterian congregation on Taesdfty evening the moderator (Rev.
