FRUIT-GROWERS' CONFERENCE.
THE QUESTION OP TRADING. By Telegraph.—Press Association, Wellington, Last Night. The Fruit-growers' Conference to-day discussed the advisableness or otherwise of the federation carrying on business as a trading concern, Mr. Hudson, M.P., 6trongly opposed the idea, giving hiq experience from previous connection with an association, which had expended £30,000 in booming ife particular industry, without entering into trade of any kind. There was a great deal of that kind of work required on the part of fruitgrower* in establishing markets, and in displays at exhibitions. Finally, it was j resolved tliat the conference affirms the principle of trading l>y the federation, and that the federation should register under one of the unclassified Acts 'for twelve months, to enatlc the Government tax of Is per acre to be collected and the different associations formed. ■
