N.Z. AXEMEN'S CARNIVAL.
ANNAL MEETING. The annual meeting of members of tin- Axemen's Association was held at Eltham on Monday evening. In moving the adoptions of the report, the chairman (Mr. 0.. W. Taylor) said that for the past two years receipts had fallen off, and he did not think it would be wise to hold a two days' carnival this year unless the townspeople guaranteed .C2OO or Ju'2. r )0.
After some discussion.'in which it was pointed "«t that us far,as Eltliam was concerned, o\v ing to there ij(_*inLT no local choppers the time woulu not ho long before the event would have to be dropped and more sporting events provided, it was unanimously decided to confine the fixture to a one day carnival. Mr. 0. A. Wilkinson., M.P., was elected patron, and the lion. W. Carneross mi l the Mavor (Mr. B. Dive) presidents. The resignation of the secretary, Mr. T. Stannerii, was accepted with regret, Mr. Cecil Stanners being appointed *;eretary pro tern.
