NEVUS AND NOTKS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Friday, July 30. A petition is (being taken round the town, asking the Government to close the hotels each evening at (i p.m. The Fire Brigade is holding a torchlight and " hard-iup " social next month. This is instead of the annual ball.
Some of the boy* for the next reinforcements have, received notice to leave for the training camp on August 10. The Patriotic Committee intends giving them a send oil' before leaving. Next Thursday the pantomime "Cinderella" is to 'be staged in the Town flail, half of the proceeds going to the ■Sick and Wounded Fund and the other half to the local Fire Brigade. As uoth are worthy objects, it is to be hoped the public will show its sympathy by giving the company a good house. It is with regret that we have to record the death of 'Private Dudley Cameron, which took place at Cambridge yesterday. Private Cameron was invalided home from .Egypt, and it was thought that a rest at the sanatorium would restore him to health again, but. apparently, the. disease had got too much hold of him, and he passed away as stated. The remains are being brought to Stratford for burial, and the funeral will take place on Sunday afternoon. The Territorials, Senior and School Cadets, and the local band will attend. The Stratford Agricultural and Pastoral Association luis decided to hold its annual show on Decemlber 1 and 2.
