We regret to record the death of Mrs. D'Aicy Pen warden, which occurred yesterday, after an illness of only a few hours. 'Much sympathy will be felt for the bereaved husband, Mr. .1. E. Wilson, Mayor of Xew Plymouth, left b.v the mail train yesterday for \\ ellinyton, to attend the conference of patriotic committees. Mr. W. T. Jennings, M.P. for Ta'imarnnui, who has been on a visit to New Plymouth and the. Waitara portion of his electorate, returns to ■Wellington by the mail train this morning. Captain Arthur Allen, of Xgaere, lias disposed of hi.s property to Mesurs. Wigliton and .Moss, of Haleombe, nurserymen. The popular captain Is now residing at Fitzroy. At the Wesley Church, Eltham, on Thursday last, Mr. Harry Clement, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. 11. C. Clement, of Anderson R'oad, was married to 'Miss r.anra Pinny, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Pinny, of Rawliitiroa. Road. The. service was fully choral, the bride having for some time been organist of the church. l.icutcnant Harry Palmer, whose death ■it the front from pneumonia was ro-. cently announced, was one of the besiknowu men in I'almerston North. He was the sou of Mr. Frank Palmer, of Auckland, and was born there 45 years itgo. As a young man he settled in Palmcrston, and took an active part in volunteering, athletics, friendly society, amateur operatic, and educational matters.
