Lambs scarce, the best being five per cent, dearer, and crossbreds declined fully ten per cent. Until combing carbonising machines in France and Belgium are again buying there is little hope for faulty and shabby wools. The lethargic support in the Home market is due to financial considerations, owing to the congestion on the railways and the long time taken over combing the wool, there being a serious delay in converting into money. It is deplorable, (hat every comb is not working day and night, especially as the machinery in England is inadequate to cope with army orders. Kelson Bros, have declared an interim dividend of four per cent. Danish butter: 102$ to KiGs.

Wellington, Last Night, The twenty-sixth annual report of the Wellington Meat Export Company states that after providing €4230 13s for the. interim dividends for the half-year ended December 31, and €OB4B for depreciation, £32,241 12s (id is available for distribution. This the board recommends should be appropriated as follows: Dividend for the half-year ended June 30 £4230 13s, transfer to equalisation of dividends reserve €-1000, refund of amount withdrawn from equalisation of dividends 'reserve at June 30 €4230 13s, transfer to insurance: fund £SOOO, payment of bonus of two per cent. €2115 (is (id, transfer to reserve fund .€OOOO, further contribution to patriotic fund (making a total of €1150) ,€SOO, carry forward £OIOS. The balance sheet shows land and premises valued at £171,132 lis fid; sundry debtors £24,031 lis 3d, consignments and stocks £190,382 5s lOd, reserve, fund £42,(531, insurance reserve £lq,loo, equalisation of dividends reserve £B2OO 7s, freezing sales and manufacture realised €50,020 0s fid.
STOCK MARKET REPORT. The Farmers' Co-operative Organisation Society of New Zealand, Ltd., report: — At Lake Road, Hawera, on Friday, July 16, wc held a clearing sale of Messrs Turner Bros.' live and dead stock. There was a large attendance, and competition was keen throughout. We quote:— The best dairy cows sold at from £l3 to £l6 10s; others £7 10s to £l2 15-:; aged cows £5 to £7 ss; empty cows £4 15s to £6; springing heifers £5 15s to £7; horses £7 10s to £22 10s springing calves 325; 6tcers calves good £3 13s, and a large quantity of sundries sold at late, rates.
At Mr. J. Wallis' (Riverlea) clearing sale on Saturday, there was a good attendance of buyers, and a successful sale was held. Best dairy cows sold at from £lO to £ll 15s; others £6 10s to £0 10s; heifers £6 to £7 7s 6d. Pigs: Breeding sows sold to £5 os; store pigs to £1 Bs.
On Monday, July 19, at Road, Otakelio, we held a clearing sale of Mr. W. Walker's live and dead stock. There was a very large muster of buyers, and high prices were realised. Th,> best dairy cows sold at from £l3 to £l7 10s; others £9 10s to £l2 10s; cows to calve in September £0 10s to £!); weaners £1 12s; springing heifers £5 2s (id to £7 10s; horses £lB 5s to £22; harrows to £5 2s (id; spring cart £l(i os, and other sundries sold at ruling rates.
At Mr. W. Cardner's (Riverlea) clearing sale on Tuesday, 20th inst., thenwas n'good attendance, and a very satisfactory sale was held. The dairy cows were a choice lot, and competition was keen. Rest dairv cows sold at from CM to £ls; others'£6 5s to £l2 10s. Tie' whole herd averaged £lO 15s. On account of the very wet day Mr. J. llogan's Tc Kiri sale was postponed last Wednesday. The whole of his dairy herd will he sold at the Opuunke yard's on Monday next. At Hawera yards on Thursday there was a. large entry of sheep and cattle. Competition was keen throughout, and prices for all classes of sheep showed a rise on late sales.
