Seniors: Okato v. Clifton, at Okato. NEWS AND NOTES. The third round of the senior cup matches will be continued to-day, when Okato and Tukapa will meet at Okato. This will conclude Tukapa's cup engagements for the season unless a fourth round is played. Should Tukapa win to-day they will have to meet the winners of the Kaponga-Hawera fixture in the southern division. Should Okato even draw, the result will be in doubt untail after the Okato-Clifton matches have eventuated. Next week the final match of the third round will be played. Okato meeting Clifton at Okato. The second round fixture, which was postponed owing to rain a fortnight ago. was fixed for last Saturday, hut at Clifton's request was put. off until the conclusion of the thii-d round. A number of Okato players, who were not advised of the alteration in time, made a fruitless trip to Waitar.i.

Footballers have, not been treated too kindly by the weather this season, Saturday players being the greater sufferers. Already matches have had to he postponed on two occasions, while on several other Saturdays good football was utter, ly impossible owing to the weather. Indeed, there has only been one ideal Saturday for football this season.

Last Saturday's match between Clifton and Tukapa on a dry ground, and with a.dry ball, would have been a treat to witness. Even with the greasy ball and tricky turf some line football was shown. Clifton fully deserved its win, being on the day the better team. The forwards, playing with great dash, held the upper hand, whilst the elusiveness and general trickincss of Teddy Roberts more, than neutralised any advantage Tukapa held in the back department. TARANAKI RUGBY UNION.

A meeting of the management committee of the Taranaki Rugbv Union was held at Stratford on Thursday evening, when there were present: Messrs T. Buchanan, W. B. Fearon, A. Hansen, P. Skoglund (secretary), and ft. Masters (treasurer). In the absence'of Mr. .Tas. McLeod, Mr. T. Buchanan was voted to the chair. A protest by Kaponga against Okaiawa being awarded a second junior match on the ground that they played a junior was upheld. W. Drinkwator's explanation in connection with the charge made against him of using abusive language to Mr. vV. Koch, referee, was received, and a copy will be forwarded to Mr. Roch for his remarks. Hawera Football Club protested against Kaponga Seniors on the grounds that the latter had played a man who was alleged to have played Northern Union game. The matter was referred to the New Zealand Union, who replied that until a man had been reported and suspended or disqualified the club could ■ not be penalised. The protest was accordingly dismissed. A protest by Kltham Juniors, on the ground of Stratford playing a senior man was upheld. The Auckland Rugby Union telegraphed that though they would not be travailing under ordinary circumstances they were prepared to play at New Plymouth, providing Taranaki would return the visit, the gates to be pooled. This was agreed to. It was resolved to rescind some of tlie conditions attaching to the Bayly Scholarship, and new conditions were substituted. Tlie age limit was fixed at not more than 14 on December 1 (previously the age was 15). It will be open to all boys attending public and primary schools. Tlie sports standards were a.Ua altered by being made easier.
