Affairs. , The funeral of the lute Mrs, Robert I Louis Stevenson took pluec at Mount Vacn, Vailiina, Samoa, mi Wednesday. June 22. Mrs. Stevenson died in Santa Barbara, United States of America, on February 18, 1014. Her remains were cremated and her wish that she slioiikl be buried by the side of her husband, the noted novelist, was carried out by her son-in-law and her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Field. The Governor of Samoa, Colonel K. Logan, read the burial service. ' Mr. Peter Hunter, who serve:; with i the Waikato Oleghiient during tlie Maori war. died at Birkenhead, aged. 70. years, and was buried on Saturday afternoon, his comrades in the 'King's Kurpi'e Voter-
mu attending the funeral. Deceased was. iiorn in Scotland, and went to Arckland in. the ship Devonshire in 1863. In-.his early days lie was a member of the.staff of the' Auckland Telegraph Office. Later ho was Tjostmnster at :,iirai>da and Collingwood. 'Mr. Hunter retired in 1887, after forty years' service. After half a century of married life, Mr.'«nd Mrs. John lioWnson,- of Eden Terrace, Auckland, had their jubilee wedd'ing supper on Saturday evening. It was' on July 17, IW>, that Mr. John Rooinson was married to Miss Marion Mclntyre .at Wairoa South. The olticiating minister'was the Rev. Thomas Norrie of the Presbyterian Church. In the intervening years thirteen children were horn to Mr. and Mrs. Ilobinson, of whom seven still survive. There are also ?"> grandchildren and one great-grandehiid. As many of the descendants as could attended the jubilee gathering on Saturday evening. The death is reported at the Davis ■Street Hospital of .Mr; U G, Mackay, late secretary of the Wellington Investment Trust and Agency Company, who recently returned from a trip to the (11:1 Country. Mr. Mackay had been rat'.ier seriously ill for some time past, and his ohject in going to London was to ■consult specialists. It was found that they could do nothing for him. and lie was confined to his berth throughout the voyage !baik to Wellington, and from the 'steamer was taken to the private hospital. The deceased was the .son of the late Judge Mackay of the Native Lund Court, and his mother is still alive, a resident of Nelson, where Mr. Mackay was born. There, too, he was educated, primarily, and at the Nels6n ■College. He came to Wellington in 1888 as an officer of the New Zealand Insurance Company, under Mr. R. ,M. Simpson, late, manager of the '.Phoenix Insurance Company.' In ISA] he joined the TnvesTment Trust and Agency Company, of which he was accountant and secretary ivp till a year aoo. He was unmarried. Of a quiet, retiring disposition, Mr. Mackay was held in popular esteem for his many •ncrsoiifll dualities, and as a member of the Wellington and Welleslev Chilis, the Star Boating Club, and the Wellington Ravage Club his demise will be deplored. His .brothers and sisters are: Mr. A. H. iMackay, of the Government Service, ■Wanganui; Mr. E. O. Mackav. of Te JCulti, 'Mr. W. .1. MK-kav, of (Juernsland; Mrs. Fit. of Fcilding, and Mrs. .Robert's, of Hobart.
