ENTERTAINMENTS.
ROYAL PICTURES. An entirely new programme will be presented at the Theatre Royal next Saturday, when the chief production will be the Vitagraph "feature" drama, "The Mischief-Maker." This is described as a powerful domestic drama, enacted by the Vitagraph Company's "utav" players. The Keystone Company will be represented by tlie farce-comedy, "Caught in the Park," in which Syd Chaplin figures in the chief role. There will also be a captivating rural drama, "The Taming of Sunnybrook Nell." The story is written around a country girl's infatuation for an unworthy city man. Happenings in various parts of Australia are illustrated in "The Australian Gazette." The programme also includes "The Night Operator at Buxton" (an exciting drama), "Adventures of a Missing Legacy"' (Edison comedy), and "Wynan's Prize Horses" (a picture of great interest). THE SILENCE OF DEAN MAITLAND. For Monday and Tuesday next tlie management present the most powerful and heart appealing drama yet produced, entitled "Tlie Silence of Dean Mnitland," an adaptation of Maxwell Grey's world-wide popular novel. This film is sure to attract hundreds of picture lovers. So intending patrons would do well to reserve their seats, Plan at I Hoffmann's.
EMPIRE PICTURES. The new programme at the Empire Theatre last night was screened to a crowded house. The sixth series of "The Adventures of Kathlyn," entitled "Throe Bags of Silver," was the main attraction. Kathlyn, her father, and Bruce, the young" American engineer, escape from their eneinv Umballah and arrive at the walled cit'v of the desert, Allahabad, where they are kindly treated by Hie Rajah. Subsequently some bripamls steal (he Rajah's sacred white elephant. Kathlyn and her companions undertake to recove'r the previous beast, and nir-et with mnnv adventures. The next chanter of the story will appear on, Thursday next. The vest of the nrogremme includes "Bread Upon the Waters" (an excellent Vitusxanh drama in two reels'.. "Australian Cazette" (topicall, "Ciirin.ff the Cook" (Lubin comic}. "As a "Man Think et)i" (Beauty cornedv). and a Keystone comedy, "A Colored Girl's Love."'
