At B special sitting of tile Arhitra(s,:n t;onrt, Mr. .liwtl.-e Stringer presiding, an ex parte motion was brought '»y Mr.' \V. .Pryor, secretary of the Km ploy<rs' Federation, for leave to apply to have the Engineers' Award (Dominion), Boilermakers' Award (Dominion), and Metal-Workers' Award (Otago and Canterbury), varied, Mr. J. K Jeiikinson appeared for the boih'rmakers and Mr. .1. Ileid for the engineers. The Court decided to suspend those awards until Augusi 9th, under a clause contained in the awards, which came into force on July 19th. This .was done conditionally upon the terms of the old award being ol'seived in the meantime. If the awards now suspended are not amended, they will be retrospective as from July ,19th. A special sitting of the. Court will be held on August !Hh to discuss the matter. •
