r, r TIIKKE more deaths. J. ! Dli. VAUXTJXE'S report. •.. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. ' Jliree additional deaths are reported to have occurred at the Trentham camp hospital. 'J wo of the deaths wcr- due * to cerebro spinal meningitis, and the thud is stated to be attributable to a complication following measles. Til# men concerned were Private Herbert James Wilson (Picton), Private David Booth Doggett (Rangiora), and Private waiter /!. Ford (next-of-kin in England). The bodies of Williams and Doggett have been sent to the homes of the men s parents, and the remains of Ford w ill be bui ied at Karori to-morrow with military honors. Dr. Valintine, the Director of Military Hospitals, stated to-day that the outbreak of cerebro spinal meningitis did not appear to be spreading. Sixteen, cases had been reported, this number including several patients who were under suspicion. Though the disease had not been definitely diagnosed, there wero some other cases under suspicion at the Wellington hospital, hut they had not been reported definitely. All the known ealses were being treated at-the Trentham hospital, and had been there some time. No cases had been reported from the new camps. Dr. Valintine mentioned J that he had given instructions that par- ' ents and next-of-kin should be allowed to call in private medical practitioners if thoyi were not satisfied with the medical attendance provided at the militaryhospitals'. Relatives of some of the men * have been expressing a wish in that direction. Minor eases of measles and influena are still being reported from the new camps, hut Dr. Valintine states that the sick are all progressing favorably. Ihe available hospital accommodation in connection with the new camps is considered to be adequate.
