REFUSAL TO SAIL
SAILORS,FEAR SUBMARINER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The majority qf the crew of the Norwegian barque Cis refused duty this morning when the vessel was ready to be towed to sea. Four of the crewtwo Russians, one ißelgian and one Norwegian—were, recently charged at the Police Court with being absent without leave, and t'hey told the Magistrate that they were unwilling to sail with the ship, as she was bound to Glasgow with nickel ore, which is contraband, and it was extremely likely that the vessel would be attacked by submarines. The Court decided it had 110 jurisdiction over the men. The police, were called and remained 011 the barque while the captain went ashore to engage another crew. It is understood the men alleged as being the leaders will be brought before the Court to-morrow.
