He would like to know when the return for the last two years was going to be laid boTore members. The Minister for .Finance, the Hon. J. Allen, said, in reply, that the return for one year would be produced during (lie prisent session. The preparation of til'! details of the public expenditure was a very big job, and there was pressure of work in the public departments. "What vein- will vour return cover?" a-iked Mr.'(l. \Y. Russell. " The year ended March 31, 1914, I think," said the Minister. A smile went round the chamber as members recalled the utterances of toe present Ministers on this subject in th» days before they gained office.
