ENTERTAINMENTS.

EMPIRE THEATRE.

A capital programme is being screened at the Empire Theatre to-night, and the subjects are many and varied. One of the chief attractions is a Keystone comedy, entitled "Hushing the Scandal.'' The day arrives when Mr. Droppjngton is to announce his engagement to the lady of his choice. A garden fete is held in honor of the occasion, and Mr. Droppjngton brings the ring, and the engagement is sealed with a kiss, everyone being apparently satisfied. Mr. Breezington appears on the scene, however, and is announced. Mr. Breezington falls in love with Droppington's fiancee, and swallows her engagement ring and woos her in the shrubbery. This is strongly objected to by the young lady's mother. After this episode the mother loses her wig. A large number of complications follow, each one being ail explosion of laughter, and the picture has a r:ipi-

tal Keystone final. Another fine picture is a Vita, drama, ''Fine Feathers Make! Fine Birds." During the lirst year of their married life, Lillian Norton and Harry, her husband, are very happy, but when the children come along she neglects her husband, and he drifts back into the club life. He becomes infatuated with a dancer. His wife learns of this, goes to the dancer, and begs her to refuse Harry's attentions. The show girl consents, but not before she proves to Lillian the cause of her husband's seeming neglect. Several dramatic sceiws follow, and the wife's eyes are at last opened, and all ends happily. The Reliance Company are represented by a stirring drama, "Out of the Deputy's Hands." This picture is full of interest from beginning to end. Othi'r pictures included in the new programme are "Gaumout Graphic," "Five Bob Rebellion," and "Baby's Ride." .
