THE MELBOURNE ROBBERY. Melbourne, June 15. Three ' men participated in the robbery at a jeweller's in Collins Street by which a tray of diamonds was stolen. Two of the most valuable rings lost have been picked up in the street. AN IRRIGATION INQUIRY. 'Sydney, June 15. Mr. Carmiehael has appointed a commission to inquire into the administration of the Yaneo irrigation area and allegations of corruption made by the settlers. The report will serve as a guide in the future irrigation policy. TEE PRICE OF BREAD. 'Sydney, June 15. The Commodities Commission refused the bakers' application to increase the price of bread one halfpenny to 4-'/ad. CHILDREN'S HOME WORK ABOLISHED. Brisbane, June 15. The Minister for Education has decided to abolish home lessons for children, excepting those studying for examinations. THE J'RICF, OF BUTTTR. Sydney, June. Is". The Northern Districts' Butter Producers' Association asks the Commodities Board to increase the price at least 6d per lb. as the present fixed prices leave the farmers' earnings below the union rates. SEIZURE OF MEAT EXPORTS. Melbourne, June 15. The Government seized twelve trucks of meat being shipped to London by the Angliss Company. It is alleged that the same iinn has nlremlv 37,000 cases of mutton in defiance of Government orders.
