POLITICAL.

TAUMARUNUI BY-ELECTION. To-night Sir Joseph Ward, leader of the Liberal Party, will speak at Waitara. Mr. Hornsby, M.P., will apeak at Mokau the same evening, whilst Mr. Jl. Okey, M.P., will appear at Mokau at D o'clock and Awakino at 8, The election will take place to-mor-tow. POLITICAL CAMPAIGNING. To the Editor. Sir, —In jour widely-circulated paper a letter appears this morning under the above heading, May I answer "Magnesia's" question about who started it in the electorate? For two months past the Reform, organiser has been all over the Taumarumii electorate. Was he doing this for pleasure? Was it only one of those strange coincidences that 'his employer, Mr (M'aseey, speaks about? .Again, the Hon. Mr. Fraser, Alinister for Pubilc Works, found time to run away from a busy Department on May 2nd •to open q, very small, but useful, bridge <at Gngarue. Merely a coincidence! Further, tho Prime Minister, on May 5, runs away from Wellington at a busy time, when thousands of persons in this Dominion were asking him for information about their sons at the Dardanelles, to open a. hall at Otorohanga. Again, a mere coincidence! Hon. Dr. Pomare has been in the electorate continuously for three weeks. What for? A mere coincidence! Hon. Mr. Herries and Hon. Sir 11. D. Bell have been in the electorate for the past week holding caucuses with the Government Whip (Mr. Guthrie), who has been living in the electorate during the past fortnight. Another coincidence! Not one member of the Opposition Party made a move f until Tuesday last, when I called for help, after noticing what was going j,on. Tho Reform candidate, if not speaking in tho electorate, has 'been dancing his way. through the backblocks during tho past month. Verb Rap.—l am, etc., WM. T. JENNINGS. Juno 11, 1915.
