The week's wool 'sales closed firm, and there was a strong- demand for all good qualities at the late full rates. French buyers were much more active than they have been for a considerable time. Matthews, Gamlin and Co. report a ( fair yarding at their Inglewood yards last Wednesday. Fat and forward cows were well competed for, but other cattle were dull of sale. Medium stores 22s to 2Ss, small stores 14s to 20s, weaners 5s to Bs. BURNSIDE. Prime bullocks made £l3 10s to £l4 7-s Od, extra to £l7 10s, medium to £lO, 15s to £IIS 17s Gd, light £8 10s to £lO, best heifers £l2 ss, medium £8 17s Od to £9 10s, light £5 15s to £0 10s. Baconers met with good competition and realised satisfactory prices. Porkers had not the same attention, while stores and slips met with practically no demand. AUCKLAND. At Pukekohe yards on Tuesday dairv cows made from £5 to £9 10s,'heifers £3 to £5, two to three-year steers £5 to £8 ,17s Od, yearling' to 18-montbs steers £3 to £4 12s fid, emptv cows £3 to £4 Us. heifers £3 10s to £3 ISs, calves 30s to £2 2s for the best, others 10s to 28s, bulls £3 to £43 10s.
At Westficld yards on Wednesday prime quality sold to £2 -per 1001b, others 31s to 3Ss, cows and heifers 30s to Css per 1001b. Steers sold at from £8 to £l6; cows and heifers £4 to £ll. Veal calves were penned in full numbers, and prices were hardly up to last week's quotations. Heavy vealers sold at from £4 5s to £5 12s, mediumweight £3 to .£4 4s, lighter £2 to £2 18s, smaller 15s to 355, small and freshdropped 3s to 13s. Sheep were yarded in average number and showed no improvement in values. Best wethers sold at from 95s fid to 28s fid, others 20s 3d to 21s 9d. ewes, heavy-weights 21s to 24s 3d, light do. 18s 3d' to 20s fid. Hoggets wore penned in large numbers, best selling at from 13s fid to 17s 9d, others 10s 3d to 12s 9<l. Pigs wore penned in less numbers than usual, and prices advanced on last week's rates. No baconers were yarded. Large porkers sold at from £2 10s to £3 Ss, porkers 80s to '£S ss, small porkers 25s to 30s, slips 18a to 21s, wcancrs 12s to 16s.
