Wellington, List Kight- " The carnival in aid oT the wounded soldiers' fund was continued yesterday, the • main feature being a band contest, which attracted a large attendance and created ; much interest. Five city bands competed . and the result of the quickstep was AS follows:—Central Mission Band: Musto 84, marching 204, total points 208; Trai®. ways Band: Music 81, marching 178f # total 25!)j; Fifth Regiment Band: Music 73, marching lli3J, total 236 J. . Other competitors were: Waterside Workers and Petono. So successful was the result * of the contest that an effort may be made to organise a similar gathering on Dominion lines. BOARD TO DEAL WITH ALIENS. Wellington, June 5. The Government has appointed Mr. A. D. Thomson (Assistant Civil Service Commissioner), Mr. John Roberts (Dub''"i") and George Elliot (Auckland) an Advisory Board to deal with matters concerning alien subjects.
