LAWN TENNIS.
MEETING OE COUNCIL. Wellington, May 2(1. The, quarterly meeting of the council of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association was held to-night, Mr. 'M. E. Denniston presiding over a large attendance of delegates. The report of the management committee dealing with matters considered by the committee since the last council meeting was presented. it contained the information that the question of school children's championships had been submitted to the affiliated associations, and submitted the question of inter-island representative matches (A and R teams) to to the council for favorable consideration. The committee expressed the opinion that the right to re-handicap players after tile first round should not continue. The suggestion of the council to use the Avres ball at the next New Zealand championships, to be played at Wellington, if satisfactory arrangements can be made, was adopted by the committee. Mr. Ross ((lore) lias been requested to act as a delegate to the Australasian Association in place of \lr. H. V, Rrandon, who was unable to accept the position l . It was reported that no challenges for the Davis Cup had been received by the Australasian Association, and that the Australasian championships had been allotted to the Queensland Association. On the motion of Mr. I). M', Kean, it was decided—"That the matter of adopting or approving of one or more makes of ball for the New Zealand championship meeting in each year he referred to e:ich affiliated association in each year for its opinion, anil the matter to be decided at a subsequent meeting of the council." It was moved by Mr. E. Salmond anil •"reed—''That this Association instruct delegate or delegates on the eounof the I.awn Tenuis Association o,f Ar ralasia to move at the next meeiing cf that council that the accumulated i!"'is Cup funds be now distributed. The financial statement for the period ]'cbrnsry 1 to April 23 showed receipts during that time amounting to £l2 12s and expenditure amounting to .£!)4 lis M.
