RADNOR ROAD SCHOOL.

APPLICATION' roii XIAV SCHOOL, At, the Taranaki Education Board's meeting yesterday, the committee appointed (Messrs. Masters, Mackay and Marfell) reported that it. hail thoroughly considered the advisability of erecting a school at Radnor lioarl, or of opening op the Derby Load (between the Denbigh and Jtaduor Roads). An engineer estimated that the cost of opening up the road would he .CiOO. If the work could be done as the inspectors suggested for £7O to .CIOO, and the Department were prepared to grant that sum, the committee thought it would be in tho interests of education that the children from Kailnor School go to the Denbigh School. It was of the opinion however, that the work could not be done for the amount suggested, and, lurther. that the 'Department would not make the grant even if it, could, and it, therefore recommended that an application should be made to the Department for a, grant to build a school on the Radnor Road. It further pointed out that there was now twenty-four children on the roll. Again, there are five settlers on the top of the road who have no children going to school, and might, be replaced with settlers whir had children of school age. ■Mr. Mackay moved-That the report on the lladnor School he received and adopted, and an application made ior a new school, lie considered that the present condition was a standing disgrace to the board, and the sooner it built a. new school the better. With regard to the roadway through to the Denbigh Itoad, it was'out of'the ouestion. Ml". "Mai'fell seconded, and sairl that the settlers had tried lo get the road put through, but had been' unable, and they were not now inclined to do so. The certainly should be erected. 'I he motion "was then carried. In reply to Mr. Masters, Inspector Ballantyne said he certainly supported the committee s report, although lie was still o! thi' opinion that the opening of the road as lie had previously sug" gested was the best plan.
