(Stratford branch), report as follows: On Friday, May 14, we held our second sale at Matau yards, by tho kind permission of Messrs Matthews and i fiamlin, when the attendance was good. There was a fair.yarding of 157 head of , cattle and !!2fi sheep. Cattle were much I slower, although we effected a fair clear- ) since. Sheep, jitiwever, tfere much duller, ' i and only a s/nall mimher changed hands IJ at. the following prices:—P.M. Ewes, cully, 10s, medium quality up to 14s, j 2-tooth wethers 17s fid to ISs; fats were | passed in ,nt '2os to 21s. Store cows, j poor, 60s, medium -61s to 70s, fair up j to 81s, in-calf heifers S3s to 9;is, mixed | wcancrs',' small, 10s to lis, medium 1-7 a,. fair '22s fid, weaner steers from 2fis fori medium to B">s for a fair line of good: colored, yearling steers, small,. 39s to 4<!9. ;;' On Tuesday, 18th inst., our usual fortnightly sale >vas held in our Stratford yards. There; was a • fair yarding of 364 head of cattle and 580 sheep. The attendance was good, and fair' business was effected at the hammer and afterwards. Good store cows showed a slight, improvement..', Store cows, small and old, neglected at from 43s to 70s, medium lines 71s to RSs, fair AOs to: 102s, fat vows 105s to 140s; weaner hei-'. fers neglected still, but good lines realised from 27s to 355; in-calf heifers, small, 745-to *>os. good linos from ,-ffC to £fi ss, speyetf. fat . heifers -up to 1755,dairy cows in" profit £.lO, hulls, small, 50s to 755, f.m. owes 10s to 12s fid, lambs,, good, 13s. Our next Stratford-Sale will be held on Tuesday, June .1. On Thursday, 20th inst., we htid our | monthly Kohuvatahi sale, when we had > : a fair yarding of sheep, but a small eni try of cattle. The attendance was good.
