EDUCATION COMMISSION.
.'£[., SITTING AT AUCKLAND. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The Education District Boundaries Commission, comprising Messrs A. W. Thomson, ,1. s. Strauchan, IW". Pctrie, and (!. Hogben, heard .evidence here today. All the evidence was wholly and strongly against a division of the Auckland district. Witnesses representing the Education Hoard and various educational bodies testified that large districts such as Auckland made for efficiency in teaching ami economy in administration, and also pointed out that a division of the district would disarrangs the Auckland scheme of the grading of teachers, which was working very satisfactorily, whereas the creating of other large districts would allow the Auckland grading scheme to dovetail in with the other grading system, resulting in a general 'benefit to the teaching profession. Tho argument appeared to be that the smaller the district the less value was the grading scheme to the teachers affected. Further evidence will (be heard to-mor-row.
