MOTOR BY-LAWS.
Bir, —Tlii! new speed-limit by-laws set down by the Koroiigh Council will, 1 am sure, prove a Chinese puzzle to motorists, particularly strangers. When riding, one will have to stop at various street corners and consult a chart or the by-law in detail to know what alteration of speed is required. The speed of twenty miles per hour in any street in any borough is absolutely ridiculous, as well as dangerous. Even twelve miles, as allowed in the congested area, is most dangerous, for that rate ot speed is invariably maintained around corners of this town. Though not having lived here long I cannot fail to notice the upside-down way in which ail'airs are carried out. In all the cities pedestrians are directed to keep to (lie right, but not so in New Plymouth. They have to be out of the onlinarv and keep to the left. Ticfcrriiig again to speed limits, do you not tldnk it woidd be far better if ten miles per hour was law for all motorists immediately upon entering the borough, at, any point of the boundary? Thanking you for space just to pass an opinion. 1 am, etc., A.E.C. Now riymouth, May 21, 101.5.
