Mackenzie and Miss Mackenzie on Sunday visited the Xcw Zcalanders in liirmingham. Many arrnct. while the High t.'oiiimis.'ioiii'r wu> in lh-.-hospital. It was a pathetic sight to :-;r bandaged men in war-worn uniform-, 'but all were cheerful. As the aiul.iilances drove up the people of liiiiiiingliain cheered the nien. -Many flov.ci> were .sent to the hospital, and some soldiers on stretchers had flowers handed to them. All the cases are progressing favnnilily. A number who were report cd severely woundeil were much improved hy the voyage and are now out of danger. The New /Zealand War Contingvnt As sociation is arranging for extra comforts mid also for the care of the convalescents.

The High Commissioner telegraphs under date May 17: 1 paid n visit to the Birmingham he..-.■ pital yesterday, and saw a number of wounded nun belonging to the Expeditionary Force, and was present when others arrived. All ivre in good heart and cheerful, and were anxious to re turn to active service. Some hope to be soon convalescent, t was unable, to go to the Chichester Hospital, but Sir Newton Moore saw the men there on my behalf, and reported ollicia:ly that all were doing well. L. M. Watson. WOUNDED COMIXG HOME. USE OF XEW ZEALAND HOMES. Wellington, Last Night. The Hon. A. L. Herdman announced on behalf of the Government at a patriotic meeting to-night, that His Excellency the Governor had oll'ercd the use of Government House at Auckland for wounded soldiers returning to New Zealand. Other offers of a similar nature received by the. Government were:—Mr. Chas. Izard, of Wellington, the use of his house at the Upper Hutt; the Hon. 11. I). Bell, the use of three houses at Low-ry Bay, Wellington; tire Hon. H. 11. Rhodes, the use of Ebnwood, l'apanui Road, Christcluirch; Mr. J. Buckley, the use of his homestead, Red Cattle, near Oamaru.
