RUCPA' LEAOUE MKETINC AUSTRALIAN TOUR ABANDONED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland Last Night. The nnmial meeting of the Xew Zcaland Pugby Football League was held this evening. The election of ollioers resulted as follows;'.—Secretary, Mr. .Tames Carlaw; treasurer, Mr. IT. C. Oakley; council of management, Mr. W. 0. Carlaw. Messrs. A. T : o\ve.ll, Auckland; 1). W. McLean, Wellington; F. J. Cladding. Hawko's Bay; F. B. Morton, Taranaki; W. F. Wyngard, Canterhury. Messrs. P. IF. Usshor, Wanganui; F. X. Ji. Levin, Nelson, were also elected members of the council, and will take tlieii seats when their respective, leagues comply with certain formalities. The annual report and balance-sheet were, read and adopted. The balancesheet showed that ,€2li() was disbursed in. grants and loans to various leagues ilnving the vcar. The English tour resulted in a loss of €23 -is fid. It was stated Unit 2:17 league plavers bad enlisted for active service, and of these 1(!S came from Auckland. The following resolution was carried: That, this league place on record its appreciation of the gallantry displayed by the X<ew Zealand and Australian'troop's at their first serious engagement, and extend to the relatives of those injured their deepest sympathy. At a meeting of the new council held subsequently, it was decided to abandon the proposed Australian tour, leagues affected having failed to arive at an agreement, in regard to dates. The Xew South Wales League wants the Xew Zealand team to visit Australia in dune, and the Xew Zealand League is unable to send a team until August.
