As u ])reliiiiinary, and to enable competitors from a distance to arrive in time for Urn -big match, two l()s sweepstakes were put on. hj, the first of t'ics, Oumlerson (a young and promising shot) secured first prize, and Messrs Hoi lard and Marsh divided second and third The second sweepstake hrought out 1!) competitors, and was won bv Harris whilst Tuck, G undersoil, and Harrison divided second and third money. The next event was the. ,Cs(i mutch (16 clays), Ist prize £3O, 2nd fli). :ird £(!, 4th £4. There were 20 nominations (first and second) for this match, and some excellent shooting was witnessed, only four separating the highest and lowest of those who finished. Messrs Whittle (shooting from the 17yds mar!;) and Harrison (shooting from l.mls), with 14 each, divided first and second money (£-(()), and Messrs Free (l-'vds) Whittle (17yds). Gunderson (15yds)' Tuck (13yds), McDonald (12 yds) ' and AVlieller (14 yds), with l.'i birds each, divided third and fourth money, taking £1 each and shooting off for the balance. Tn the shoot-off the winner turned up in Tuck.
