ENTERTAINMENTS.

EMPIRE PICTURES. Of particular interest at the present time is the great Vitagraph military production entitled "Warfare in the Skies," shown for the first time at the Empire Picture Theatre on Saturday. The picture gives a vivid idea of modern day warfare. Troops are seen in action, aeroplanes hover aloft and drop bombs, while the climax is reached when one aeroplane seemingly crashes into another, and both hurtle to the ground. These are only some of the incidents centering round a tragic love story. The Keystone picture, now a' regular iind looked-for event at the Empire is "The Masqueradcr." Charles Chaplin takes the lead, so it needs no umplifiration of the plot to vouch for its comicality. The surprising part of the picture is how this apparently hopelessly awkward person is able to pose as the simpering, dainty maiden lie effects at the latter end of.the picture. Other pictures on the bill are: "The Third New Zealand 'Ex'peditionaries," "Wifle's Athletic Mamma" and "Dick Potter's Wife" (comedies), "Down the River Fiji" (scenic) and the latest Pathe (lazette. To-night a special war film will be shown, entitled, "His 'Majesty's Troops Jn fevpt."
