THEFT OF JEWELLERY.
SEVERAL THOUSANDS INVOLVED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, May 7. In tire Police Court Echvard George Nurse, aged HI, was charged with having stolen a diamond and other rings valued at £50(1, the property of the National Bank of New Zealand. On the application for a remand and for bail the Crown Prosecutor said a great deal more was at stake ih:>n (he charge might indicate. The matter involved several thousand pounds, ff defendant was prepared to help the Crown in their investigations he would not object, otherwise lie asked bail to be prohibitive. The Magistrate, after looking over the figures submitted said what the Crown Prosecutor stated was correct. He lixed the bail in two sureties of £SOO each, accused to report himself.
