ARBITRATION COURT.
TWO WELLINGTON DISPUTES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. J lie Arbitration Court completed tho hearing of the dispute in whieh the private hotels and tho Cooks and Waiters' Union are concerned. Decision was reserved. hearing of the builders and laborers' dispute was commenced. The union asked for a forty-four hour week and wages at the rate of Is 4d an hour; also tho old style of preference. Exemptions from the scope of the award were granted to the City Council, the Harbor Board, the Miramar Borough Council and the Patent Slip Company. Application was also made for exemption by a number of other employers; To these the union objected and Mr. (Irenfell suggested as a compromise that the limitoi exemption made in the painters' award be agreed on. The hearing has not concluded.
