CORRESPONDENCE.

CONTRAST IN ADVERTISING.

To t'hp Editor. Sir, —Oil Tuesday T was lit Stratford raiiwav station and noticed on the long stretch of iron fencing alom/ the northern end of the platform a. I>iff advertising hoard with the words. "Wolfe's l Sehnapp. l ;." To-day 1 received an Ameri-. can bulletin where I read, "On Jan. 1,1010 all advertisements of liquor will be dim-. inated from the billboards in the United States and Canada. The Board of ; Directors of the Poster Advertising As- : aociation, which controls the boards in 4000 towns, has so decided. 3\ T o liquor contracts will be accepted after May 1, 191.), and all contracts now in existence must terminate by December 31, 1015." ■What a contrast with 'our advertising boards en railway stations and elsewhere! Our boards are literal]}' crowded with liquor advertisements; and all this in the face of the evidence against alcohol that is coming forward on every hand. Instead of leading, as Ave pride ourselves in doing, New Zealand must take a bad; seat or mend her ways if she would he up-to-date.—l am. etc. G.11.M.
