K-ArO-VGA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) A very pretty wedding was solemnised nt St. John's Church, Kaponga, on Wednesday, April 28, when Mr. Charles Ernest Kobinson (manager of the Hawera braneli of the Motor Transport Company) was married to Miss Elsie Mildred "Weblev, fourth daughter of Mr. Alf Weblev, of lliverlea. The bride was dressed in white silk, and wore the usual veil and orange blossoms, fcelng attended by Miss Hertha Moller, of Otakeho, as bridesmaid, who was attired in cream radianta and bridesmaid's eap. Each carried a shower bouquet. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Fred. Bertie a3 best man. After the ceremony the party repaired to the Coffee Palace, where afternoon tea was partaken of by about fifty guests. The chief feature was a fine three-decker wedding cake, tlie present of Mr. and Mrs. Knell, of Opunake. The usual toasts were duly honored, after which the happy couple departed by motor for Stratford, en route to Mew Plymouth, where the honeymoon is being spent, carrying with them the best wishes of all present. They were the recipients of a large number of valuable presents. The Kev. I'\ Hands, of Marton, and late of Kaponga, was tlie olliciating minister. The bund ball held here on Thursday night was not altogether a financial success, mainly on account of the bad weather. However, all who did brave the elements considered it one of the most pleasant evenings spent. The music supplied by the band was excellent, and the oor and supper were excellent. The Pictures again showed to a good house on Friday night, when another excellent programme was submitted. Tlie annual meeting of the Kaponga Defence liille Club was held in the Town Hall on Saturday night, when the following ollieers were elected: Patron. Mr. Allhusen; president. Mr. ,A. 11. Guy; vice-president, Mr. S. .1. Holland; secretary, Mr. <!. Smith; treasurer, Mr. A. 11. Guy; management committee, Messrs liooth, Wikham, president, vice-presi-dent and secretary. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £|J 2s. It was decided to tire a match for the championship Wilkie Cup on Thursday, May PI. Seven members of the club have been picked for the .\orth v. South, to be tired at Kltham.on Thursday next! The new firm of carriers, Messrs. P. W. Allen and Co., have started running with a lorry made in America. It is built to carry three tons, and is a fourcylinder thirty horse power English rating. Its limit is twelve miles per >iour, and in its trial run round the mountain it averaged nine miles.
