THE OMRAH'S MISHAP. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Brisbane, April 29. At the inquiry into the Omrah's mishap the pilot said the port engine was ordered to go full speed astern, but apparently the engines were put the wrong way, and the speed of the ship was not checked until she struck the wharf. Heconsidered it might be a risky thing to hold the vessel for three-quarters an hour on the flood tide. Garrett, fourth engineer, stated that as far as he knew he worked the engine as directed by the telegraph. He evidently made a mistake and put the engine ahead instead of astern.
