HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY'S SHOW.

A FINE DISPLAY. Though small in size, the display of flowers at the show in the Good Templar Hall yesterday made up a beautiful collection of blooms, and the quality of the exhibits was high. There were no competition classes, but a varied collection of excellent blooms was made by local residents, and the exhibition was enhanced, by clioice displays by several nurserymen. The show was open during the afternoon and evening, and attracted a large number of people. A particularly fine showing of chrysanthemums was made, the exhibitors being Mr. S. AV. Shaw, Mr. 11. Corney, Mr. G. N. Deighton, Airs. Scanlon, Mrs. Hntton, Mrs. E. Griffiths, Miss Pollard, and Mr. Aldridge. Mrs. H. AVeston showed a bowl of beautiful violets, also a collection of chrysanthemums and double cosmos: Miss Avery, a basket of chrysanthemums; Airs. W. L. Newman, a choice geranium, and Air. A. Newell, chrysanthemums and' single and double cosmos. Mr. J. Gibson, the president of the society, had a display of mses, chrysanthemums, dahlias, single and double cosmos, etc, and Mr. G. H. McGiihey exhibited a large collection of pot plants.

The exhibitions of the nurserymen were of a high standard. Chrysanthemums in great variety were exhibited by Messrs. Duncan and Bavics. Thenexhibit also included a spray of a new evergreen creeper, bignonia chei'ei, and among a fine collection of plants the New Zealand nature red birch (fagus fusca), red leaved, oaks, maples, etc, stood out prominently, Chrysanthemums were also the feature of the display of the Morshead Nursery Company, while Mr. E. Beale strengthened the displays of chrysanthemums with'some beautiful blooms.
