Captain Greenish left Hawera by the main train yesterday for Trenthaui. Mr. Strack, 8.A., of the Patea District High School, is joining the reinforcements. Bean McKenna left yesterday morning for Opunakc, where lie will remain for a few days. At a meeting of the executive of the Xi'\v Zealand Alliance, the Rev. YV. J. Cuming has resigned from his position as editor of the Government publication, " The Agricultural Journal," and accepted the editorship of "The New Zealand Farmer." Surgeon-Major C. E. Arising out of the resignation of Mr. H. H. Ostler, senior Crown Law officer, and the promotion of Mr. P. t5. R. Ma»assey to that position, Mr. V. R. Meredith, of Wellington, has been appointed to the Crown Law Office, and will commence his duties on Monday.—Press Association telegram. Mr. J. Heslop, of Eltham, who lias just returned from a trip abroad, has been reappointed a member of the Taranaki Education Board, and took his seat !>t yesterday's meeting. Mr. Heslop was '. cleomed by the chairman (Mr. Billiard) and members. With the break of one year, Mr. Heslop has served for twenty years on the board.
