THE OIL INDUSTRY.

810 WORKS PROPOSED. Mr. P. A. Hadley, of Auckland, was in New Plymouth yesterday in connection with important developments in petroleum works in New Plymouth. As briefly announced last week Mr. Hadley has purchased the complete plant and buildings of the Bonithon Petroleum Company, Ltd., and it is proposed to erect it on one of the properties of r,he Standard Oil Company (New Zealand) Ltd. The transaction runs into many thousands of pounds, and it is believed that it will be the means of infusing new life into the development of the oil'industry in the Taranaki district. In conversation with a News reporter last night, Mr. Hadley said that the object of his visit to New Plymouth was to inspect a number of sites in ofder to select one on which to erect a plant and commence the new developments. Of the result of his visit he could not speak at present, nor could he go into the details of his proposals now. Mr. Hadley loft for Wellington this morning to complete his arrangements, and he hopes to return to New Plymouth on Saturday night, by which time all'the details of the* scheme will be completed.
