THE NOMINATIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Nominations were received to-day for the Council of Education, who are to be elected under tho new Act. lender tho statute passed last session, the Counil of Education is to consist of the Director of Education, tho AssistantDirector of Education, an inspector ap. pointed by the Minister, three other members also appointed by the Minister representing industrial, technical and female interests, and a member of the University of New Zealand appointed by the Senate. In addition, there are to be members elected by the various educational sections. These groups, with tho nominations received to-day are as follow: Two members to he elected by members of the education boards in the North Island: Five nominations—Messrs. J. t|. W .Aitkcn (Wellington), G. J. Garland (Auckland), J. R. Kirk (Hawke's Bay), 11. Trimble (Taranaki), J. F. Pirani (Wanganui).

Two members to be elected by the education boards of the South Island: Six nominations—Messrs. W. N. Frankl.vn (Nelson), J. C. Thomson (Southland), C. 11. Opie (North Canterbury), J. Mitchell (Otago), J. Greenwood (Wcstland), J. AY, M. Hamilton (South Canterbury). One member to be elected by certificated male teachers of public schools of the North Island: Two nominations— Messrs. T. A. Wells (Auckland) and J. H. N. (Parkinson (Wellington).

One member to be selected by the certificated male teachers of tiie pubiic schools of the South Island: AY.' J. Caughlev (North Canterbury), elected. One member by the male teachers of secondary and technicals choolti: Three nominations—Messrs. J. AY. Tibbs (Auckland), G. George (Auckland), and F. 11. Campbell (Dunedin). One member by certificated women teachers of the public schools of the North Island: Two nominations—Misses E. Simpson (Auckland) and P. Myers (Wellington). One member by certificated women teachers of the South Island: Miss B. A. Chaplin (■Christc'hurch), elected. One member by the women teachers •>* the secondary and technical schoftd.
